Title: Program Coordinator
Childhood Dream: To be a Marine Biologist and work with dolphins.
Mary joined the Dreams for Kids team in 2007 as Program Coordinator, and is a passionate advocate of the non-profit’s mission. After spending a year and a half studying and teaching English in Chile, Mary returned to Chicago with a greater understanding of the issues facing both our local and global communities and an intensified commitment to make a difference in the lives of children. The mission and energy behind Dreams for Kids struck a chord with her, and she never ceases to be inspired by the work of the organization. This fall Mary will be a senior Northwestern University with a major in Human Development and Psychological Services. She thrives on combining her studies with the hands on work of Dreams for Kids.
In her role as Program Coordinator, Mary coordinates all programming and is currently building and managing the team of interns. This exceptionally talented group of interns shares her passion and they are working tirelessly towards promoting the expansion and sustainability of Dreams for Kids. Last December, Mary hosted a Holiday for Hope party in Concepcion, Chile and answered the letters to Santa from impoverished children and their families. Remembering the look in the children’s eyes as the magic of the holidays came alive as well as the smiling faces of the children at our recent Extreme Recess event provides the basis for her day to day work.
When she isn’t working, Mary can be found spending time with her friends and family as well as outside enjoying the sunshine. She loves exploring Chicago, reading a good book, being on the beach and eating avocado.
