Title: Leadership Coordinator
Childhood Dream: To be a gymnast and/or basketball player.
Lisa Martinez joined the Dreams for Kids team in 2008 as the Leadership Coordinator for the Dream Leaders program. Lisa’s desire to work for Dreams for Kids is rooted in her passion for educational policy and reform both locally and abroad. Her position allows her to do the work she loves, while making a positive difference in the lives of children.
Born and raised in Huntington Beach, California, Lisa left the beach to move east and complete her undergraduate degree in print journalism at The Pennsylvania State University. Following graduation, Lisa relocated to the Midwest and taught kindergarten in Gary, IN. Currently, she is a student at DePaul University working toward a Master’s degree in Organizational and Multicultural Communication. Her experiences with educational inequality in low income communities fuels her passion for working with Dreams for Kids.
Currently she is creating and maintaining the Dream Leaders program for middle and high school students that are interested in serving their local and global communities.
In her free time, Lisa can be found travelling, reading, spending time with friends, and complaining about Chicago weather.
