Childhood Dream: To grow up and be a princess!
Jennifer began working with Dreams for Kids in the Summer ’08. She coordinates projects for one of our programs, Dream Big Give Big. Living in the Chicago suburbs her whole life, Jennifer hardly encountered severe poverty, but through eye opening classes and volunteer work, she became acutely aware of increasing problems with the unequal distribution of wealth. Not only did she realize that this was a problem in Chicago, but after spending summers in the Middle East, Jennifer finally saw first hand the serious problems poverty forces on the families it inflicts all over the world.
Dreams for Kids was a perfect match, as Jennifer truly believes that we all have a place in our communities and must do what we can to help those around us. She finds that it is impossible for us to fully aid society’s progression unless we are reaching the most helpless, the children.
Jennifer is a junior at DePaul University majoring in International Studies and minoring in Economics and Spanish. Jennifer is greatly involved in the youth group at her church and is a part of various clubs at school. She loves swimming, and reading, (reading by the pool is even better!) and spending time with family and friends. Jennifer truly enjoys the time she spends working with Dreams for Kids as she believes the kids are the ones we can encourage and empower to play a leading role in their community to slowly help us improve society and lessen the detriments and severe affects of poverty.
